Since the release of Win 10 in July of 2015 I have repeatedly attempted to upgrade from win 8.1 to Win 10, (approximately 15 times) and it has always resulted with the error: 0xC1900101-0x20017. Besides attempted upgrades by myself, there have also been attempts by Dell, and Microsoft support all of which failed. The last attempt by Microsoft support, rendered the PC unable to boot, but luckily I managed to restore it from a backup.
I've seen some information on the web that appears to allude to the possibility that the wireless and or bluetooth drivers may be at fault and the remedy is to uninstall these driver and to disable these in the BIOS.
During one upgrade attempt I uninstalled the Dell wireless 1704 802b/g/n (I think it is actually a Broadcom driver) with the 'delete driver' option in Device Manager. However, it like all the other attempts din't work and the latest A11 BIOS on this Dell PC doesn't have any settings for wireless or bluetooth.
I'm desperate and extremely frustrated that I'm unable to get the upgrade to work and that I may have to resort to a 'Clean Install'.
Does anyone have a clue or any information on how to resolve this problem?
